After falling to the fifteenth position, Soler-Roig and Lins climbed up until the fighting for the second and third positions scratch, in a dramatic battle with the Porsche 907L of Rico Steinemann and Dieter Spoerry and the Alfa Romeo 33/2 of Ignacio Giunti and Nanni Galli.
